School Counselor: Kanese Rachel

Hello Cox Elementary Family! My name is Kanese Rachel, and I am thrilled to serve as your school counselor. With almost 20 years of experience in education, including my time as an elementary school teacher, I have had the privilege of helping students grow and succeed. My goal as a school counselor is to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of every student. I look forward to working with you and your children to ensure they have a positive and successful school experience.

GOAL OF THE COUNSELING PROGRAM

The goal of the Cox Elementary School Counseling Program is to deliver a comprehensive program to
address the academic, personal and social development of all students.  Development in these areas are
addressed through classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individualized counseling
sessions.  Classroom guidance is taught by the school counselor to all students in kindergarten through
fifth grade. These lessons focus on the character education, social skills, coping with big feelings, and
personal safety and abuse prevention lessons (Monique Burr Foundation).
