Working together for safe & secure schools
ANONYMOUS ALERTS APP is available to report concerns. Anyone may report concerns anonymously, or the reporter can provide contact information. Find it on the website under Students and Families or download the app. You can help, "If you see something, say something."
The CENTEGIX ALERT SYSTEM AND BADGES provide staff with an easy-to-use, wearable panic button that can instantly trigger alerts in emergencies. Whether it's a medical situation, an intruder, or another crisis, the system ensures rapid communication and response by notifying designated personnel and first responders.
CHECK-IN PROCEDURES are critical to the safety of all schools. Visitors are required to check in and wear visitor badges while at school. Field trip chaperones must have BACKGROUND CHECKS to accompany students on a field trip.
KLOUD-12 CAMERAS are in every classroom, and law enforcement can access them in case of emergency situations. This resource helps authorities respond swiftly and effectively.
LOCKED DOORS are a safety requirement in every school. Classroom doors are locked, and exterior doors are never propped open. The Director of School Safety, School Resource Officers, and school administration conduct random checks to ensure safety procedures are followed.
LOCKDOWN DRILLS are conducted every year at all schools by our Director of School Safety and school administration. Drills are critical to ensuring that our processes and technology are vetted and tested regularly. They are important, ensuring staff and students know what to do when an emergency situation arises. Being prepared is essential.
Colquitt County Sheriff's Office provides SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS. (SROs). SROs patrol all schools and play a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive environment within schools.
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT is available for students through our partnerships with Georgia Pines and Vashti. All schools have certified social workers and school counselors on staff to provide support.
How It Works:
- Students and school visitors will pass through the devices as they enter the building.
- Items such as Chromebooks and 3-ring binders will trigger the detectors.
- Students should remove those items from their bags before entering and have them in their hands.
- Additional items that may need to be removed include umbrellas, tin cases (pencils, Altoids, etc.), and some eyeglass cases.
Policy and Safety Measures:
- If there is reasonable suspicion that a student or individual is in possession of a weapon or prohibited item, school administrators will conduct a search in accordance with Colquitt County School District
and the State of Georgia policies, applicable laws, and local district procedures. - This procedure applies to everyone accessing Colquitt County School District secondary campuses, including visitors and stakeholders. This procedure will be expanded to extracurricular events in the near future.
