Why is the District moving to this form of communication?

Why is the District moving to this form of communication?

In an effort to provide more secure and accurate means of communication, the district has decided to stop using REMIND and use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal communication tools (https://www.colquitt.k12.ga.us/families/parent-portal-registration) for all student academic and enrollment related communication and SchoolNow for more general school and district-wide activities and announcements. We understand this transition may take some time to complete, so we ask for your patience as we work to move all groups from REMIND to the new platforms.

What is the difference between Parent Portal and the SchoolNow Parent App?

Parent Portal is the legal guardian's access to their student's record in Infinite Campus, Colquitt County School District's student information system. A parent portal account allows a legal guardian(s) to see the student's school record, such as attendance, class schedules, grades, assignments, etc. This is the official student record for the district and is governed by FERPA as to who has access. 

SchoolNow Parent App is a one-stop app for quick links and information about the school and the school district. You will have quick access to a school news feed, calendars and events, staff directories, school cafeteria menus, and more. Inside the SchoolNow Parent app are quick links to the Parent Portal, Anonymous Alerts, and more.

How do I log in for the first time?

How do I log in for the first time?

After the app has been downloaded and launched for the first time, legal parents/guardians can add either their email address or phone number on file with the school; employees will use their school email address to access the app. A special login code will be sent. Once the proper code is entered, access to the app is granted. No passwords to remember!

Is a password required?

Is a password required?

No. We make it easy to access the portal simply by matching the email address or phone number associated with your student or employment on file at the school. We'll then send you a 6-digit code (either by email or text, based on how you are authenticating) to be entered to complete the authentication process.

How does SchoolNow know my information?

Your information is held in the District's Student Information System (SIS) called Infinite Campus, and the app and portal can reference that information securely.

Launch the app, click the gear icon located at top-left. On this screen, you will see your name, along with your student(s) and the contact info we have on file. Next to each phone number or email address, you are able to specify what type of notifications you get for each.This only applies to notifications through the SchoolNow app and does not change Parent Portal.

Can I change my language preference for communications shared by SchoolNow? 

 

 

Yes. Go to your preferences in the app or use the link for Manage Preferences at the bottom of any email from your district or school using SchoolNow. Under the Contact Info section in your settings, you can choose between English and Spanish. Additional languages will be added soon.

How can I update my contact information?

How can I update my contact information?

If you are a legal parent or guardian, login into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to update your contact information.  Updates are pushed from Parent Portal to SchoolNow nightly.  Open the app the next day, a verification code will be sent to give you access once again.

I don't see my child's information when I login in. What should I do?

The first time you launch the app, we take you through a data verification process that allows you to review and confirm the data we have on file is accurate. You can tell us if any of your contact information is wrong as well as confirm your students, and even tell us if one of your students is missing. You can also contact the district directly to correct anything. The app will then see the updated information made at the district.

Please note that if you download the app during the months of June or July, your student may still show at their previous school. Their school will update when Infinite Campus updates their record for the new school year.

Why aren't messages being delivered to me?

Why aren't messages being delivered to me?

If you are not receiving messages, it is possible that your user preferences are not up-to-date. Once logged in, navigate to 'settings' to double-check your contact information. If you change any contact information in the SchoolNow Parent App, you should also change your information in the Parent Portal. Changes made in the the SchoolNow Parent App do not push to Parent Portal. 

 

If you cannot log in, there may be an issue with the data provided to the distict.

What is the difference beween general and urgent messages?

General messages are used for announcements, reminders, and links to important events and information. Urgent messages are used for critical alerts and updates (including voice calls and push notifications).

Do I need to download the SchoolNow app to receive messages?

You do not need to download the SchoolNow app to receive email and text notifications from your school. However, downloading the app is necessary to get immediate push notifications and full access to your school's feed and information.

How do I / can I opt out of text, email, or phone messages?

In your user preferences, you have the option to opt out of text, email, or mobile communication. Please note however, that urgent communications (such as a fire, lockdown or another school emergency) may be sent regardless of your settings.

Can I add additional contacts to receive App Notifications via email or text from my child's school and the district?

Can I add additional contacts to receive App Notifications via email or text from my child's school and the district? 

 

Yes. You may go into your SchoolNow app settings and select to add Additional Contacts under the Contacts section; however, this only applies to notifications that are sent using the app and will not affect the student's Parent Portal account. The person you add will not be added to Parent Portal; they will only be able to receive the email or text notifications pushed out through the SchoolNow app. They also cannot download the app and be verified as they are not listed as legal guardians in Parent Portal. 

SchoolNow is FERPA (Family Educational Rights Privacy Act) certified to comply with family privacy laws.

What if I have children in separate schools in the district?

By default, you are only sent or shown the communications and information associated with the district and schools your student(s) attend.   SchoolNow will recognize your children and their appropriate schools. 

 

Please note that student school records update each summer so their school changes will be updated when Infinite Campus is updated for the new school year.
