Colquitt EMC Awards Bright Ideas Grants To Area Teachers

Earlier this year, teachers in Colquitt EMC’s service area were invited to submit grant proposals for up to $1000 each for innovative and creative lesson plans. Fifty-four teachers from 14 schools in the Colquitt County School District were winners with Bright Ideas grants totaling $50,049

Funding for the grants is made possible through Georgia legislation that allows unclaimed capital credits to be used for education in the communities served by EMCs. Colquitt EMC is a member-owned cooperative that provides electricity to over 47,500 members with 71,355 meters in Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Lowndes, Tift, and Worth counties.
