The Colquitt County Board of Education voted unanimously on January 22, 2024, to approve the appointment of Dan Chappuis as the Colquitt County School Superintendent. Chappuis is replacing retiring Superintendent Ben Wiggins. Chappuis is expected to assume his duties on May 1.
Colquitt County Board of Education Selection Committee Chairman Mary Beth Watson commented, “Mr. Chappuis has been an excellent leader at the high school. He has an aptitude for assessing needs and implementing changes to quickly improve culture, climate, and academic outcomes. His “plus one” initiative not only provided paths and opportunities for students but it involved many new stakeholders in high school initiatives. I am excited to see how he expands that vision at the system level.”
Chappuis comes to the role of superintendent with 15 years of classroom teaching experience (physical education, health, biology, and physical science) and 13 years of administrative experience. (Assistant Principal and Principal).
Superintendent Ben Wiggins applauded the selection of Chappuis and shared his thoughts, “I believe Dan Chappuis is an excellent choice as superintendent for the Colquitt County School District. He is a veteran educator who is passionate about the success of students both academically and in their extracurricular activities. He understands the importance of supporting the work of our faculty and staff, as they are the key to the success of our students, schools, and district. He has gained a deep level of respect as the principal of Colquitt County High School, and I have no doubt he will do the same as the superintendent. I look forward to his leadership as he takes the district to new heights in academic achievement.
Chappuis has been the principal at Colquitt County High School since May 2021. He shared his thoughts on his new role as superintendent, “I am truly honored to lead the Colquitt County School District as superintendent. My family and I could not be more excited to engage in this exceptional community. It will be a privilege to serve a school district in a community that has a longstanding tradition of supporting the achievements of young people. We will embrace the challenges facing education today and support our teachers and staff as they work to add value to our students and propel our district forward.”
One of Chappuis’s first duties in his new position will be to begin the search for a principal for Colquitt County High School. “It is of the utmost importance to keep things moving forward. Strong leadership is key to maintaining student achievement and student/staff morale,” shared Chappuis. “I have the unique perspective of knowing exactly what is involved in this position. We will do what is best for Colquitt County High School students and staff when selecting their next leader.”
Chappuis and his wife Katie have two adult children, Logan and Macee.
