The Georgia Department of Education has named Stringfellow Elementary School a 2023-2024 Title I Reward School.
As a Title I Reward School, Stringfellow Elementary is among the top five percent of the most improved schools in Georgia. To receive this distinction, Stringfellow Elementary showed significant progress in improving student achievement and closing the achievement gap.
"This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of Stringfellow Elementary students, staff, and parents," Colquitt County School District Superintendent Dan Chappuis said. "They are an exceptional example of what is possible when all stakeholders work together to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed."
Under the guidance of Principal Brian Knighton, the Stringfellow team maximized instructional time to directly impact student achievement and ensure student growth. To accomplish this goal, the staff studied each student's progress and made data-driven decisions to enhance each child's learning. They tailored interventions to meet their students' needs and provided academic assistance, social skills training, and emotional help.
Mr. Knighton shared, "Stringfellow stands as proof that no label can define us, no challenge can deter us, and no expectation is too high for our students and staff to achieve. As we continue this journey of success, we are inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: 'If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving."
Stringfellow Elementary was also recently recognized by Georgia State Superintendent Richard Woods as a Math and Literacy Leader for outstanding growth in several grade levels.
Enrollment for Pre-K and Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year is open. Interested parents or legal guardians should visit https://www.colquitt.k12.ga.us/families/centralized-enrollment/index to begin the online application process.
