Did you know that February is CTAE Month?  During February, schools across Georgia celebrate career, technical, and agricultural education (CTAE).  CTAE Month is designed to recognize the value, achievements, and accomplishments of CTAE programs nationwide.

  • Congratulations to the Willie J. Williams Middle School Ag Program on having the largest Georgia FFA membership (883 students) among middle and high schools in the state.
     
  • Hats off to Willie J. Williams Middle School ag educator Chad Bass was named “Outstanding Middle School Cooperating Teacher” at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Ag Education Pinning ceremony.
     
  • Congratulations to Brittany Gibbs, agricultural educator at Willie J. Williams Middle School, on receiving the “Teacher of Teachers Bronze Award” from the National Association of Agricultural Educators.
     
  • The Colquitt County FFA Floriculture Team placed first in the state on February 8, 2025, at the Perry Fair State CDEs. Twelve teams competed from all across the state, and floriculture annually has the highest number of statewide participants, which in turn makes it one of the hardest contests to compete in.
    • Team Members include:

    • Competition events:
      -25 General Knowledge Horticulture Test
      -5 Problem Solving questions (Area/volume, Fertilizer, Irrigation, Pricing, Media/Soil)
      -12 Plant Disorders/Tools
      -25 Random Plants out of a learned list of 100.
      -45 Minute Team Activity AND 8-minute presentation
      -Hands-on Plant Practicum (1 of 3 learned skills in the horticulture industry)
