Packer X Information for
5th Graders

Williams Middle School offers the PackerX Program, an advanced academic track for highly motivated students who seek a challenging middle school experience. As you and your child prepare for this exciting transition, here’s what you need to know in 5th grade to help your child potentially qualify for this prestigious program.

  1. Excel on MAP Tests (ELA & Math): Aim for high scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and math to show you are ready for                  PackerX’s rigorous coursework.
  2. Perform Well on GMAS: Strong performance on this test shows you are mastering 5th-grade standards and prepared for the challenges ahead.
  3. Maintain Strong Grades: Keep good grades in all your subjects throughout the 5th grade to demonstrate your commitment and academic skills.
  4. Follow PBIS Behavior & Attendance Expectations: Consistent attendance and positive behavior are key. Follow the school's behavior guidelines (PBIS) and attend school regularly.

What are the criteria for acceptance into the PackerX Program in Middle School?
Students complete a letter of interest and are accepted based on ranking from the following criteria:

  • 5th Grade Benchmark 3 MAP ELA NPR
  • 5th Grade Benchmark 3 MAP Math NPR
  • 5th Grade Math GMAS
  • 5th Grade ELA GMAS
  • 5th Grade Benchmark 2 MAP ELA NPR
  • 5th Grade Benchmark 2 MAP Math NPR
  • Behavior Rating
  • Teacher Recommendation
  • Attendance
