Fall 2024 Final Exam Information

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

I hope this message finds you well. This letter provides important information about End of
Pathways Assessments, End of Course Tests, and Final Exams for the first semester at Colquitt
County High School.

Our goal is to ensure you are fully informed about the assessment dates, bell schedule, and
criteria for potential exemptions. Please read the detailed information carefully to ensure a clear
understanding of the first semester exam process. Please note during these assessments, students
will not be allowed to sign out to ensure a focused and distraction-free testing environment for
all.

The following pages outline the assessment schedule, which runs from November 20th through
December 18th. Please note that the Colquitt County School District will observe an Early
Release Day on December 19th. On this day, students will have the opportunity to remediate
with their instructors from 8:10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Fall Assessment Schedule - 2024-2025

Assessment Bell Schedule

Please Note: An Assessment Bell Schedule will be in effect from December 2nd to December 18th,
following Thanksgiving Break.
• 1st Block: 8:10 AM - 9:50 AM (100 Minutes)
• 2nd Block: 9:55 AM - 11:30 AM (95 Minutes)
• 3rd Block: 11:35 AM - 1:30 PM (115 Minutes)
o Lunch A: 11:35 AM - 12:00 PM
o Lunch B: 12:05 PM - 12:30 PM
o Lunch C: 12:35 PM - 1:00 PM
o Lunch D: 1:05 PM - 1:30 PM
• 4th Block: 1:35 PM - 3:15 PM (100 Minutes)


I. End-of-Pathway Assessment (EOPA) Dates: Tuesday, November 19-Thursday,
November 21 Third-year pathway students are required to take the EOPA, which accounts
for 20% of the final grade (see page 17 of the CCHS Student Handbook). Students enrolled in
third-year pathway courses are not exempt from these assessments.


II. End-of-Course Tests (EOCs): Students enrolled in the following state-mandated courses
American Literature, Algebra I, Biology, and US History are required to take the
End-of-Course (EOC) Tests, which are necessary for graduation per the Georgia Department
of Education. These tests also account for 20% of the final grade (see page 17 of the CCHS
Student Handbook):
• Wednesday, December 4: American Literature Part I
• Thursday, December 5: American Literature Part II & III
• Tuesday, December 10: US History and Algebra I (Part I)
• Wednesday, December 11: Algebra I (Part II) and Biology
Students who score a Level 3 or 4 on the Georgia End of Course (EOC) Test may choose to
exempt their final exam for that EOC course. This incentive applies only to American
Literature, Algebra I, Biology, and US History.
Note: Dual Enrollment and Work-Based Learning students are required to attend these
testing sessions.


III. Final Exam Dates:
• Tuesday, December 17: 1st and 2nd Block Final Exams
• Wednesday, December 18: 3rd and 4th Block Final Exams. These exams will be
administered in the morning during the originally scheduled 1st and 2nd blocks. On
December 18, the 1st and 2nd blocks will switch to follow the 3rd and 4th block
schedules.
• Thursday, December 19: Remediation/Early Release Day (dismissal at 12:15 PM)

Final exams are mandatory for students who do not meet the exemption criteria. Final exams count
as 20% of the final grade. Students who meet exemption requirements may still opt to take exams to
improve their grades but are not required to attend during the exam period.

Final Exam Exemption Criteria (see page 18 of the CCHS Student Handbook):
1. A class average of 85 or higher.
2. Five or fewer absences (excused and unexcused) for the semester.
3. No assignments to In-School Suspension (ISS) or Out-of-School Suspension (OSS).
4. No referrals for Academic Dishonesty, including the use of AI.
5. EOC and EOPA assessments may not be exempted.
Please note: If a student does not meet all the above criteria, they will not be permitted to exempt
their final.

Important Notes:
• Students who do not meet exemption criteria must attend exams. Unexcused absences
will result in a zero for each missed exam.
• Final exam exemption and early release forms must be submitted to the Principal’s Office
two days prior to the exam dates. These forms may be picked up from the Principal’s
Office.


IV. Remediation/Make-Up Finals and Early Release Day (12:15PM) Date: Thursday,
December 19: On this day, students will have the opportunity to remediate by completing
missed assignments or finals to improve their grades.
Students will follow the schedule below and report to their assigned classes during the
designated times:
• First Bell- 8:00 a.m.
• 1st Block: 8:10 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. (50 Minutes)
• 2nd Block: 9:05 a.m. - 9:55 a.m. (50 Minutes)
• 3rd Block: 10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. (50 Minutes)
• 4th Block: 10:55 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. (50 Minutes)
• Lunch: 11:50 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. (25 Minutes)
• Dismissal: 12:15 p.m.

Important Reminders
• Students are not permitted to sign out during exams to maintain a focused testing
environment.
• Early dismissal will only be allowed for exempt students with approved forms.
• Vacations are not considered extenuating circumstances for exam exemptions.
