- Ag in the Classroom: High School Art Contest
- Bezos Scholars Program: Every year, 17 exceptional high school juniors and an educator from each school are selected as Bezos Scholars. Scholars are chosen from across the U.S. and the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa. After spending a week immersed in learning at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Scholars return home and develop a community change project to make a positive difference in their communities.
- Congressional App Challenge
The annual Congressional App Challenge has already opened. Deadline for submission is 19 October at 11:59 PM. Congressman Austin Scott has asked that all students in District 8 have the opportunity to participate. The task is to create, design, and code an app that can be downloadable on your phone.
The winning apps from each district may to be displayed in the US Capitol Building and will be featured on the House of Reps website (house.gov). The winning student(s) will be invited to a #HouseOfCode Capitol Hill Reception in Washington D.C., and the winners will receive a $250 Amazon Web Services credits.

Congressional Essay Contest (December 1):
This essay contest is a major project of The NSCDA held under the auspices of the Washington Workshops Foundation, a private nonprofit educational program in American government for high school students. Winners receive full tuition, including seminar materials, university campus housing, and two meals daily, for a week of citizenship education about the national government, plus fun, new friends, and tours of sites in our nation’s capital.

- Grants vs. Scholarships
- Hugh O'Brian (HOBY) State Leadership Seminar: Each spring, 10,000 high school sophomores from across the country join one of HOBY’s 70 State Leadership Seminars to hone their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace, and community.
- PCOM South Georgia: Summer Science and Math Academy is held each year to encourage students to pursue a career in healthcare professions.
- Semper Fidelis All-American Program: This program for high school juniors selects students with exemplary moral character, academic performance, and athletic abilities. Students will then attend (all expenses paid) the Battles Won Academy in Washington DC.
- UGA Young Scholars Program: 6 week paid internship for students interested in agricultural food, and environmental sciences who have completed their sophomore year and are 16 years old.
- Volunteer at Legacy Village: Mrs. Brianna (Campbell) Bothof, the Activities Director (daughter of retired CC educators Mark and Regina Campbell) for Legacy Village Park Regency for Senior Citizens) is seeking volunteers to
help with activities including exercise, games, crafts, music, and social opportunities throughout the day. Residents love having new faces to help out. This volunteer opportunity would offer valuable experience in recreational therapy, senior care, and dementia care. It would benefit anyone interested in social work, recreational therapy, senior living, nursing, or pastoral ministries. If interested, contact Brianna Bothof at 229-798-2055.
